Paisley Abbey

Paisley Abbey was founded in 1163 by Walter FitzAlan, an Anglo-Breton who brought monks from Much Wenlock, Shropshire, England to establish the community around the shrine to a local saint, Mirin.

Saturday 15th May: Medieval Fair

A fascinating fun-packed day for everyone, especially children, with activities free of charge! Set in and around the breathtaking ancient Abbey, there will be all sorts of demonstrations, activities and talks illustrating medieval life. And to show that the ancient skills are still alive, Paisley’s well known annual crafts fair will set up its marquee beside the Abbey.
